Inside Sales and Field Technical Support Representative

at Michelman, Inc. in Cincinnati

Description:
Michelman is a global developer of water-based barrier and functional coatings for flexible film packaging, paperboard and corrugated cartons; and water-based surface modifiers, additives and polymers for numerous industries including wood care, industrial coatings, inks, fibers, composites and construction products. Michelman services its multinational and regional customers with production facilities in the United States, Europe and Singapore, and a worldwide network of highly trained field technical support personnel.

Currently, we have a newly created Inside Sales and Field Technical Support Representative position open. This position will play a pivotal role in developing new and existing business to support the achievement of the Corporation’s annual sales goals. The selected candidate leverages their proven sales skills to grow this important aspect of our overall business. This position will be located in our Blue Ash, Ohio Corporate Global Headquarters.

The responsibilities of this position will include a mixture of telephonic sales as well as in field technical support:
Telephonic Sales and Customer Support:
• Sell Michelman’s Flexible Packaging products
• Work with the sales team to address proactive selling opportunities, customer satisfaction, and address issues that arise, demonstrating strong teamwork skills and flexibility
• Develop and communicate new business opportunities and coordinate Michelman’s efforts to take advantage of the opportunities
• Demonstrate subject matter expertise of products, services, and procedures while providing assistance regarding the best application of Michelman products both over the phone and at the customer
• Transition customer inquiries into selling opportunities by answering customer inquiries about our products, services, and other business functions
• Prospect new customers through advertising leads and convert the leads into new business
• Build and maintain relationships with existing accounts, especially Silver segment customers
• Provide monthly and quarterly reports summarizing activities and progress
• Execute customer support components of marketing programs such as gathering competitive intelligence, building customer relationships, and developing internet-based communications
• Use and regularly update internal sales management tools (CRM, Emballage, GMS Pipeline)

Field Technical Support
• Provide on-site technical support for the FPBU customers at their locations
• Travel as needed to customer sites to provide training on how to use our products, trouble-shoot application issues, observe product trials, or provide other types of technical support
• Work with the sales team to address proactive selling opportunities, customer satisfaction, and address issues that arise, demonstrating strong teamwork skills and flexibility
• Develop and communicate new business opportunities and coordinate Michelman’s efforts to take advantage of the opportunities
• Transition customer inquiries into selling opportunities by answering customer inquiries about our products, services, and other business functions

The preferred candidate will have:
• Bachelors degree with a preference toward a degree in science, engineering, or other technical degree
• Two (2) or more years of sales experience with a proven selling background with a record of accomplishment of past sales success
• Coatings formulation background preferred
• Strong market and/or formulating knowledge and industry contacts
• Proven selling background with a record of accomplishment of past sales success
• High level of self-motivation and initiative
• Able to build and maintain excellent customer relationships
• Excellent problem solving, organizational and prioritization skills
• Outstanding presentation, written and oral communication skills
• Proficient in Microsoft Office
• Must be able to travel as business needs dictate up to 50% in the long term
• Able to handle multiple tasks simultaneously and prioritize workload
• Provide fast, accurate, professional, and friendly service to customers
• Able to consider alternative solutions to customers’ problems when appropriate
