Job Description
Technical Sales Consultant responsible for providing Data Center architectural expertise to the sales organization. This individual is seen as a leader in Data Center architectures and expertly collaborates with the SEs, TSAs, CSAs, CDO, CMO and Advanced Services to help develop winning roadmaps that realize the Cisco Data Center/Virtualization vision. He or She provides a consultative approach to understanding customer and industry business & application requirements and how those influence the Data Center design decisions. He or she has expert knowledge of the major competitors’ solutions and strategies and collaborates across Cisco to develop competitive programs. He or she will present at training events (SEVT, PSSVT, etc.), industry seminars (Networkers) to share his/her industry and technical expertise with the Cisco partner and customer community.
Opportunity support
•Support the Enterprise West accounts surrounding identification of qualified strategic opportunities.
•Support account planning when qualified strategic opportunities are identified
•Design customized DC/V architectures for qualified strategic customers and industries.
•Engage appropriate Advanced Services support resources to position “whole offer” solutions.
•Develop & Present DC/V architectural solutions
•Actively develop systems architecture options for strategic customer(s), and the market. Serve as liaison for driving product and solution innovation within the corporate development organization (CDO).
•Develop, plan, and coordinate CDO, Corporate Marketing Organization (CMO) and the field with regards to deliverables and presentations for DC/V architecture solutions.
•Perform executive-level presentations for customers, partners and strategic prospects at industry events.
Personal & Organizational Development
•Research and report on innovative DC/V technology trends
Publish white papers
•Lead DC/V architecture and technology sessions
•Promote new and innovative approaches to addressing DC/V challenges and problems.
•Build collaborative relationships with AS/CDO/CMO to share architectural knowledge and best practices

•Very knowledgeable in Information technology strategy
•Maintain a detailed-level of expertise of the business economics and trends in Data Center, and how Cisco solutions add financial and strategic value.
•Expert at understanding Cisco DC/V vision and technology; articulate the vision from the customer perspective and create unique, novel value propositions around Cisco solutions
•Expert understanding of customer business drivers and how to map these to a customized Data Center solution, inclusive of Cisco and 3rd party products.
• Be seen as a trusted technical advisor to the Area sales teams, CDO, CMO, strategic customers and the industry.
Required Technical Acumen:
•5-7 years Solid understanding of internetworking industry trends. (Security, Routing, Switching, SAN and Application networking).
•5-7 years Solid knowledge in Storage & Server technologies & products including, UCS (Unified Compute System), V-Block, Flex-Pod.
•5-7 years Good knowledge of FCoE, Oracle VM, Oracle DB and RAC, Microsoft SQL, SAP, Red Hat Enterprise Linux, VMWare, Microsoft Hyper V.
•Application knowledge and understanding to size server cluster to support application workloads.
•Expert technical consulting skills, including ability to define trade-offs, ask probing questions, and incorporate Cisco DC solutions into a broader technology environment
•Applied knowledge of enterprise architect principles.
Experience with leading complex, large scale technology projects

•Viewed internally as the lead DC expert in providing technical guidance to SEs, TSA, CSA, CDO and CMO.
