Help Microsoft change the way we do business with customers and partners. As Product Manager in Microsoft’s Licensing Technologies Group, you'll be part of a passionate, high-impact team developing the roadmap and influencing the designing of software activation technologies to protect intellectual property, and assist customers in tracking and managing their software licenses via online self-service tools. You will serve as a customer and partner advocate regarding planning, design, launch and maintenance of products using product keys/Volume Activation, to improve the customer experience and grow revenue. You will work closely with the product development teams, product marketing, licensing and pricing, legal, operations, subsidiaries, and information technology groups to define and drive the distinct aspects of software licensing services and license management technologies. You will be business and customer experience owner responsible for excellence in execution.
You will:
Ensure customers and partners have a seamless experience while installing/deploying Microsoft products using Volume Activation Technology
Be a stakeholder for Volume Activation technology and future activation strategy, planning and support
Work with PG to provide volume estimates for sku creation
Coordinate with Marketing Readiness team to ensure licensing community is aware of any PA activities and/or changes
Coordinate with SD/LPO for business rule assignment (Open program, EA program, Select Program, SPLA, ISV, etc.)
Support customer escalations (from CSS field, partners, etc)
Support external/internal product keys request
Support PR/AR related activities regarding PA
Collaborate with key stakeholders (SPP, WGA, WWLC, LCA, LPO-SD, PRSS, etc) to effectively integrate Volume Licensing customer and partner thinking and needs in the support and creation of specific AP initiatives
Advise BGs on the better way to deploy their product in the VL space when activation technology is required
Drive business, licensing, customer, and market requirements into technological deliverables by the product development teams
Direct cross-organizational teams to deliver all aspects of the activation technology features for products in your portfolio
Be accountable for successful launch of activation technology features across products
Understand and design to all channels and customer types of Microsoft business models
Identify, manage and mitigate launch risks across licensing tools portfolio based on Last Mile Excellence (LMX) process.
Drive enhancements to self-service tools (VLSC) to improve customer satisfaction and reduce reliance on manual process.
You will be involved throughout the product development life cycle. The positive results of these licensing technologies will be increased customer satisfaction, increased revenue, and increased license agreement awareness as tools are provided to help customers count and manage software licenses. You will be responsible for negotiating requirements for UI design, packaging, EULA, and privacy policies as they relate to licensing activation technologies in the product line.
The successful candidate will need the capacity to understand the technical aspects of software-based licensing activation technology initiatives and should have prior experience in determining and documenting business and product requirements. Product group experience through at least one full product development cycle is a plus. The candidate must possess high intellectual horsepower, a passion for technology, excellent problem solving and cross-group collaboration skills. Excellent communication and presentation skills are a must as the candidate will be required to influence and educate all levels of Microsoft, customer management and executives from both a business and technology perspective. Project management skills would be helpful to ensure execution excellence. 9+ years of related experience in the IT industry or related is required. A BS in a technical or related field or demonstrated experience with technology is required. An MS or MBA is preferred.
