TITLE: Western and Midwest Regional Sales Manager – Consumer Sales (2 openings)
LOCATION: Western (Overland Park, KS, Denver, CO, or Salt Lake City, UT) Midwest (Overland Park, KS)
DIVISION: Consumer & Industrial
REPORTS TO: Dir, Consumer Sales
FLSA Status: Exempt
Summary: Drive an integrated consumer strategy combining established core products with innovative products and concepts to deliver category value and growth for our customers and company stakeholders.
Sales Accountability: Approximately $40MM in gross sales
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following: (Management reserves the right to add or modify the duties and responsibilities at any time.)
Goal Attainment
• Responsible for achieving sales volumes, pricing, margin, customer contribution and new product commercialization objectives
Sales Force Management
• Develop and deploy retail territory, regional and channel sales strategies to achieve objectives based on usage of market specific brokers/manufacturer representatives
• Achieve performance metrics tied to Sales goals
• Establish communication processes to ensure all relevant entities achieve results
• Prepare and direct periodic broker/manufacturer representative meetings
New Business Development
• Provide account and channel specific input for new product development process
• Provide account and channel specific input in the development of new product launch plan(s)
• Execute value-add sales process for new product(s)
• Propose development for key customers including risk assessment, terms, price, etc.
Customer and Category Management
• Responsible for the effective and profitable management of customer accounts in a way that provides value to our customers and long term growth for both
• Represents retail category management credibility and expertise to the customer
• Understand and utilize syndicated data to drive category value
• Effectively facilitates, manages and communicates customer expectations to internal support personnel
• Conducts and/or participates in quarterly and/or semi-annual reviews with key accounts
Business Management
• Provides sales inputs to annual operating plan and manages to commitments
• Conducts and communicates internal business reviews (monthly, quarterly, and annually)
• Recommends optimum mix (channel, customer and product)
• Responsible for monthly and rolling sales forecast
• Responsible for implementing broker/manufacturer representative reviews
• Work with Dir, Consumer Sales in development of sales support elements, trends, market intelligence and any issues pertaining to sales / marketing initiatives
• Works with credit personnel to effectively manage deductions, cash aging and DSO’s
• Effectively builds/fosters relationships with Customer Service, Pricing, Sales Support, Product Management, Manufacturing, Logistics and other functional areas in a way that helps them to achieve their results
• Must be innovative, resourceful, and tenacious and should be able to work alongside strong personalities with the ability to influence key decision makers

Education and Experience:
Bachelor’s degree, MBA preferred. A minimum of 5 years related sales experience in the retail industry, specifically: grocery, big box, home improvement, hardware, farm and home, club stores and c-stores. A minimum of 5 years experience desired in managing brokers/manufacturer representative groups. Working knowledge of retail category management concepts and analytics, account financial analysis and P&L development.
Computer Skills:
PC proficiency with working knowledge in MS Office Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
Travel:
Travel estimated between 40% and 60%. Travel requirements for the position will be discussed further during the interview process.
