Description:
We are looking for an outstanding self-starter who can lead a virtual team and drive the portfolio planning of the next generation of mobile devices running on Microsoft’ Windows Phone 7 with a leading handset manufacturer. In this role you’ll be able to take your wireless industry experience to help shape and define the next generation of handsets.


We are the OEM Mobile Engineering (OME), chartered to enable our OEM partners to plan for future device portfolio of devices to showcase Windows Phone 7 capabilities and collaborate to commercialize and land these devices at Mobile Operators. This role reports to the Partner and Technical Sales group under OME whose mission is to secure Windows Phone Smartphone design-ins, enable new and differentiated experiences to enhance the value proposition of these handsets. This involves bridging the Microsoft Windows Phone Engineering, Marketing, Core Product Planning and Chassis Hardware teams with the appropriate OEM teams as well aligning hardware roadmaps, software and services development in sync with mobile industry cadence.


As a Senior Partner Planner, you will have the opportunity to use your passion for mobile technology, customers and business to build their portfolio of phones and orchestrate the launch of new mobile experiences. In this role you will engage directly with partners at multiple levels to understand their objectives and unmet needs, work with engineering teams to define scenarios and experiences, and work closely with Microsoft’ dedicated engineering team, product planning and marketing to ensure that Microsoft’s mobile strategy is successful.

Responsibilities / Deliverables:

• Jointly develop and manage the planning of the product portfolio and experiences for Windows Phone handsets along with the OEM partners.

• Identify opportunities in the smartphone market thru competitive analysis, segmentation and consumer insights and partner with the OEMs to address these market segments.

• Evangelize and influence OEM’s portfolio to garner a significant and increasing share of design-ins and translate these into design-wins.

• Partner closely with Windows Phone engineering, product planning and hardware chassis teams to develop amazing handsets.

• Conceptualize experiences which build upon Microsoft’ assets and the partners core competency and translate these feature requirements which can be implemented across the OEM’s products.

• Collaborate with sales, marketing and business development teams at Microsoft and the partner to understand business drivers and leverage these resources to achieve and exceed partner goals.

• Interface with Microsoft’s Mobile Operator teams to gather input and jointly define new end to end scenarios and device solutions that will fill the technical and business opportunities identified.

• Communicate Microsoft mobile roadmaps and influence partner roadmaps to ensure they align with Microsoft Windows Phone product goals and conform to the mobile industry cadence.

• Drive product/feature requirements, define and prioritize scenarios to help engineering teams in Microsoft and OEM partner make the right investments based on plans that are developed in conjunction with OEM partner planning teams.

• Host regular meetings to ensure bilateral communication between MCB and the OEM. Communicate deviations in plans and make adjustments to meet the overall objectives.

• Successful candidates will have the following:

• 8+ years of experience of mobile industry experience in strategic planning, product development or product management.

• Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills - including the ability to influence and lead.

• Strong analytical skills and ability to present convincingly to both senior executives and other engineering personnel.

• Passionate about truly understanding and delighting customers and a relentless energetic drive for results and success in spite of impediments.

• Solid understanding of Microsoft products and services.

• Direct experience working with OEMs and Mobile Operators.

• Strong analytical skills and experience in identifying partner and end user needs and then translating these into product requirements.

• Demonstrated track record of individual success and leading and effectively managing cross functional teams in a matrixed organization.

• Track record of developing personal relationships and collaborating both internally as well as externally.

• Travel would be required to US and global destinations for partner visits.

• BA or BS is required - MBA or Master’s degree preferred
