Microsoft's Worldwide Licensing & Pricing (WWLP) division is a key engine of the company's success. We are re-tooling this economic powerhouse to improve our internal agility and strengthen our value propositions with customers. The Programs and Software Assurance team manages a portfolio of licensing solutions that drive nearly $30b of Microsoft's revenue. Most decisions affecting our programs can be quantified in the hundreds of millions of dollars and up. To ensure analytic rigor in our decision-making, we are looking for a highly qualified business analyst to drive economic modeling and insightful data analyses, business intelligence and trend modeling.

Your work will entail modeling the impact of licensing decisions, including return on investment, scenario analyses and data-based recommendations to optimize our licensing programs portfolio both in the short and long term. You will contribute to the end-to-end modeling, design, evangelization and implementation support of new offerings, business models and licensing policies for this multi-billion dollar business.
You will be personally responsible for:
Develop decision-making economic models that assess the financial impact of proposed licensing decisions, including alternative scenarios and key sensitivities.
Use BI tools and data-mining techniques to develop data-based insights and recommendations that characterize risks and opportunities for Microsoft's volume Licensing and Software Assurance programs.
Articulate and advocate for the implications of these analyses to internal (WWLP) and external work teams, working collaboratively to ensure acceptance from business and finance stakeholders.
Conduct market research analyses and evaluate impacts as result of licensing policy modifications.
Proactively reach and evangelize the risks and opportunities resulting from analytical work, improving understanding of economic forces behind the Volume Licensing business and developing an audience across stakeholders.
Act as subject matter expert and key contact for analyses related to volume licensing programs, providing project-based and ad hoc quantitative analysis as requested.

Qualifications
We are looking for candidates with the ability to think strategically and analytically regarding business, financial and cross functional issues when implementing changes to or launching new licensing models to market. The role requires strong problem solving skills, excellent cross-group collaboration skills, a strong tolerance for ambiguity, and a drive for results.
Exceptional business acumen and strategic thinking
Very strong technical and analytical problem solving skills and experience, including data mining and modeling, statistical, financial and economic analysis, market opportunity assessment and business decision-support.
Very strong communication skills, both oral and written, with ability to communicate complex numerical information in a simple and coherent fashion at senior levels.
Excellent collaboration and cross-group skills; an ability to identify key stakeholders and effectively communicate key findings and insights to them; and building support and common understandings within WWLP and across various groups.
Demonstrated understanding of Microsoft Financial reporting data and sources is strongly preferred
MBA or hard science graduate degree or economics graduate degree required. 5+ years of related professional experience
Consulting or Investment Banking experience a plus
