Overview
The goal of Microsoft´s global Discrete Manufacturing Industry team is to grow Microsoft´s business and take share in Discrete Manufacturing, across Automotive, Aerospace, Industrial, High Tech & Electronics industries. We do this by providing strategic industry leadership and driving an Industry Partner-Centric go-to-market plan for execution. This includes understanding industry trends and how they translate into MS opportunity, partner selection, strategic investment, field readiness and engagement, feedback to Business Groups, evangelism to partners and customers, engagements with standards bodies, marketing programs to support the strategy, and executive sales support. Our objective is to deliver industry solutions to our customers that dramatically drive efficiencies, attract and retain customers, and accelerate their business.
The global Automotive Manufacturing Industry Solution Manager (ISM) is a key member of the global Discrete Manufacturing team defining the global Automotive Manufacturing solution portfolio and driving field support enablement that leads to key industry wins with our industry partners. The Industry Solution Manager bridges the gap between the MD´s strategy, the global Alliance managers´ Industry partner portfolios, and sales execution on a selected set of solutions areas.
Responsibilities
The ISM is for the Automotive Manufacturing solution portfolio:
Analyzing the AUTOMOTIVE MANUFACTURING Industry driving forces, competitive trends, and customer feedback to identify key themes of the overall business needs working towards a Microsoft (+ partners) point of view for the various solution areas within the Automotive Manufacturing industry.
Harvesting business solutions deployed by more than one customer and/or more than one geography/time-zone to be used as repeatable best-practices.
Analyzing the competitive landscape to identify technical strengths and weaknesses and recommend offsetting partner solutions and applications.
Collaborating with virtual-teams to identify white-space opportunities representing new and significant opportunities for growth and business innovation.
Developing competitive intelligence and regular updates provided to the global Automotive Manufacturing community on customer, partner and other emerging technology threats.
Understanding complex Automotive Manufacturing business problems and translating them into solution requirements, particularly with respect to Microsoft’s value proposition and Industry partner LOB solution capabilities.
Alignment
The ISM works closely with many parties, internally and externally. The following list is not comprehensive:
Liaises with solution area category managers for solution area alignments.
Works with global Partner Alliance Managers and IMDMs on solution deployment.
Leverages the strategic relationships of the Discrete Manufacturing ITS with Microsoft Product/Business Groups.
Accesses marketing campaigns to leverage assets and influence the broader marketing-engine reach BGs have to offer.
Complements WW sales & services efforts. Activities may include presentations at partner and/or customer conferences, solution briefings and workshops, industry conferences, press and analyst engagement, customer briefings in the EBC, podcasts, and major internal training sessions/meetings (i.e. MGX, ISX, ISU etc.).
Works as v-team with other ISM’s, ITS’s, IU’s, TZs and subsidiaries.
Participates with global Alliance Partner Managers, DP&E in WW SI, OEM and ISV management and engagements; priority is put on a core set of partners with a WW or multi-regional focus.
Accountabilities
The ISM role is accountable for increased revenue associated with global Discrete Manufacturing Industry Solution Area sales:
Develops the Global Automotive Manufacturing Industry business plan and Solution Strategies for each selected priority solution area. Develops the Automotive Manufacturing Solution Map. Also provides advice for geographic / subsidiary Solution Map development and execution, with partner integration.
Oversees the Automotive Manufacturing process map development for BGA/AGA execution.
Coordinates the global solution strategy execution, working in alignment with the relevant global alliance managers and the TZ IMDM’s and subsidiary Industry Unit teams and ATUs.
Supports the geography IMDMs / Industry teams to assess and develop local partners in key solution areas.
Works with the US Discrete Manufacturing Marketing manager to establish and maintain the sales collateral
o Ensures that the Automotive Manufacturing BoM content is further developed and refreshed regularly. This also includes the selection and presentation of the BoM content on resourceone, microsoft.com, the internal Automotive Manufacturing website, blog site, and other communication media.
o Drive the case study process ensuring that the case study portfolio is complete in terms of Microsoft products featured and customer scenarios covered.
Leads the content preparation of ISUs, ISX and industry event participations.
Qualifications Recommended
Candidate must have a strong solutions and marketing background, experience in developing & deploying Industry solutions programs at a Fortune 500 company, global SI or ISV organization.
Excellent knowledge and experience of the Automotive Manufacturing Industry is a must, including a very good level of understanding of Automotive Manufacturing Industry solutions, marketing strategy and competitive technologies.
Experience across various solution areas including Supply Chain Management, Manufacturing Operations, Product Life Cycle Management, Innovation Management, and Digital Marketing.
Excellent written and spoken English is a prerequisite. The successful candidate must also have excellent engagement, management, negotiations, communication, and public speaking skills.
International experience is a desired requirement.
Ability to manage across multiple organizations by influence will be critical to successful execution of the objectives. Industry certifications are a plus.
MBA preferred, BA/BS degree in Information Technology, Business, or related field or equivalent experience required.
Must be able to travel 50% and work independently.
