ONLINE SALES MODEL STRATEGIST (722611)

As Microsoft’s online businesses evolve and mature there is a need to design sales processes and a productivity model to support these businesses, and integrate them into the mainstream sales model. A key aspect of this role will be to drive commonality in sales processes between Microsoft’s multiple online businesses (BPOS, hosting, Azure, partners). This role will work cross-segment and cross-sector within Microsoft’s SMSG organization.
This job will report into the Sales Strategy and Operations organization (under Brian Selby), which is part WW EPG organization (under Simon Witts). This person’s manager will be the Director of Sales Model (Paul Andersen). The work group’s purpose is to define and drive global implementation of enterprise strategies, sales model, and overall sales architecture.
The purpose of this job will be to own the definition and evolution of the enterprise sales model for Microsoft’s online businesses. This person will be responsible for defining a common resourcing and sales productivity model, and a common set of sales processes for Microsoft’s online businesses, and integrate them into the mainstream sales models of SMSG. This role will implement these elements of the sales model by teaming with other organizations such as the Field Enablement team and the Sales Excellence community in the field.
Primary Job Functions
Develop a deep understanding of the various online business strategies by working with Microsoft’s Business Groups (e.g., BPOS, Azure, Communications Sector Hosting, etc.). Develop an understanding of what elements of the strategy are unique and differentiating for the business versus those that are common and can be leveraged.
Develop a sales model to support each online business strategy, ensuring not to compromise the differentiating aspects of the strategy, while defining a common set of sales processes and practices across the various online businesses to gain maximum productivity.
o Define sales roles and taxonomies
o Define Team unit construction strategy
o Define resource sharing models, e.g., cross-segment and cross-sector
o Define partner sales models
Develop a roadmap and plan to integrate the online sales model fully into the mainstream sales processes, working closely with the broader sales model design teams to ensure a proper integration by team unit (STU, ATU, PTU, etc.).
Develop a sales productivity framework for the online businesses. Integrate into the broader sales productivity model.
Provide insight to senior leaders on the opportunities to rationalize sales processes to drive higher levels of productivity and cost efficiencies.
Develop tools and analytical frameworks for field sales organizations to understand online sales opportunity and optimize sales capacity.
Engage with segment and field leaders to implement resource and planning models. Educate and ramp Field Enablement and the Sales Excellence community to implement strategies.
Provide training and readiness to the field (e.g. Live Meeting, Community Calls, field updates).
This person will be responsible for developing and implementing sales processes and resourcing strategies for the online business. He or she will have accountability for establishing a common set of practices and processes across Microsoft’s multiple online businesses, and then assisting the field in implementing them. Online revenue growth, opportunity velocity, and cost of sale will be important measures that this role will impact.
This candidate shuold have 8-10 yeaers of related experience and must have a MBA/Master's Degree, along with Sales and partner management experience, with experience in complex sales. Sales model design experience. Familiarity with online businesses.
